Here’s a little FAQ we put together to help answer any questions you may have about Dwight’s Back to School Movie Night event on Friday, September 28, 2018. There is a rain date set for the following Friday, October 5 at the same time.
Having FUN and BEING SAFE are our NUMBER ONE CONCERNS. Children must be chaperoned at Movie Night. We understand that the movie may not hold the attention of everyone, but we must do our best to uphold the code of honor while at the school during the event. Children are not permitted to play unsupervised during the movie.
FUN & FUNDRAISING are our two main goals for the event. Our Dwight Back to School Movie Night began three years ago after we learned that years of hosting heavy carnival equipment had seriously damaged our septic system. Aside from the fact that we were faced with tons of disappointed students, the Dwight PTA had to come up with a new event that would raise much needed funds for the school.
Movie Night is the first major fundraiser of the school calendar year. It is followed directly by our Dwight-A-Thon, and together the money raised at these two events, fund most of our programs throughout the year. Contrary to popular belief, our PTA Programs are not funded by CT tax revenue, but rather at the local community level through donations from parents like you. While donations are not required, they are necessary to continue the important enrichment activities that makes our school special. Please consider supporting these important events by volunteering, attending, and donating.
